Description

The Seeed Studio SenseCAP Watcher W1-B is a compact, self-contained physical AI agent designed to bring intelligent perception to any indoor space. Built on the ESP32-S3 microcontroller (dual-core, 240 MHz, 8 MB PSRAM, 32 MB Flash) and a dedicated Himax WiseEye2 HX6538 AI accelerator (Arm Cortex-M55 & Ethos-U55, 16 MB Flash), the Watcher delivers on-device vision inference, voice interaction, and event-triggered automation from a single device. A 120° wide-angle OV5647 camera, integrated microphone, 1W speaker, and a 1.45-inch circular touchscreen (412×412 px) allow the Watcher to see, hear, and communicate with its environment in real time. Connectivity is handled via Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz, 802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 5.0 (BLE), with expansion available through a Grove I²C port, a 2×4 GPIO header, and a microSD slot (up to 32 GB). The W1-B variant features a white ABS enclosure for clean integration in office, retail, and hospitality environments.

Core Capabilities

Hybrid On-Device & Cloud AI The Himax HX6538 AI accelerator runs vision models locally for low-latency, privacy-preserving inference. Complex analysis is offloaded to LLMs (including ChatGPT) via the SenseCraft suite, which runs on-premise on Windows, macOS, or Linux — keeping all models and data within the user’s own infrastructure.
120° Wide-Angle AI Camera The OV5647 camera with 120° field of view and 3-metre fixed focus enables real-time detection of people, objects, animals, and complex behaviours. AI task flows trigger automatic actions such as notifications, voice alerts, or connected device control when defined events are detected.
Voice Interaction & Push-to-Talk The integrated microphone and 1W speaker allow the Watcher to receive spoken commands and deliver voice responses to detected events. The Push-to-Talk function enables rapid event configuration via voice, with real-time notifications delivered through the SenseCraft mobile app.
Open-Source & Platform Integration Fully open-source hardware and firmware (ESP-IDF based). Integrates natively with Home Assistant, Node-RED, Arduino, and XIAO ESP32. Supports UART, USB, and HTTP output for detection results, and is expandable via Grove I²C, GPIO header, and microSD (up to 32 GB).

• Smart Office & Workspace Monitoring: Detect presence, monitor desk occupancy, and trigger automated responses — such as adjusting lighting, HVAC, or screen content — based on real-time visual AI inference without the need for dedicated sensors at each zone.
• Retail & Hospitality Security: Monitor entrances, restricted areas, and customer-facing zones for specific events (e.g. unattended bags, unauthorised access, or specific behavioural patterns) with instant alert delivery via the SenseCraft app.
• Industrial Edge AI Node: Deploy as a low-power, self-contained AI edge node for quality inspection, worker safety monitoring, or equipment presence verification on the factory floor, with results piped via UART or HTTP to upstream SCADA or MES systems.
• Building Automation & Home Assistant: Integrate directly with Home Assistant to create vision-triggered automations — controlling lights, locks, appliances, and notification systems based on what the Watcher detects — without relying on cloud AI services.

SenseCraft AI Service Plans

The SenseCAP Watcher operates with the SenseCraft AI suite, available in a free Basic plan (image analysis every 15 minutes, 200 monthly LLM conversations) and a paid Pro plan for higher-frequency analysis and unlimited LLM interactions. SenseCraft runs on-premise on Windows, macOS, and Linux, ensuring full data privacy. For enterprise deployments requiring commercial-grade reliability and low power consumption, the Watcher pairs with NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin for 24/7 industrial-grade edge AI operation.
