Description

The Dragino LPS8N is a compact, open-source indoor LoRaWAN® gateway that bridges your LoRa wireless network to the internet over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Built around the Semtech SX1302 concentrator (with dual SX1250 transceivers), it reaches extremely long range at low data rates — an affordable, flexible way to roll out private LoRaWAN coverage indoors.

Running an OpenWrt Linux system managed through a Web GUI or SSH, the LPS8N uses the Semtech packet forwarder and is fully LoRaWAN-compatible, with pre-configured regional bands you can customise. An optional cellular version adds 3G/4G backhaul, and built-in Remote.it support makes remote management simple.

SX1302 Concentrator A Semtech SX1302 with two SX1250 transceivers emulates 49 LoRa demodulators across 10 programmable parallel demodulation paths, using the Semtech packet forwarder for full LoRaWAN compatibility.
Flexible Backhaul Connect over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) or 10/100 Ethernet, with an optional 3G/4G cellular model (Quectel EC25) for sites without fixed internet.
Open-Source OpenWrt An open-source OpenWrt system managed by Web GUI or SSH over LAN/Wi-Fi, with published source code — easy to customise frequency bands or extend with your own packages.
Simple Remote Management Built-in Remote.it support lets you reach the gateway securely from anywhere. Compact (12 × 12 × 3 cm) and USB-C powered, it's quick to deploy on a desk, shelf, or wall indoors.

Model Backhaul Best For
LPS8N-868 (EU868) Ethernet + Wi-Fi Indoor sites with reliable wired or Wi-Fi internet.
LPS8N-EC25-868 (EU868) Ethernet + Wi-Fi + 4G Sites needing cellular backhaul or failover.

Both variants are EU868 (also covering IN865). The 4G model uses a Quectel EC25-E module. A PoE-powered version (LPS8NP) exists separately; the models here are USB-C powered.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the LPS8N powered?

Via USB Type-C (5 V / 2 A) — a charger is included. If you need Power-over-Ethernet, Dragino offers a separate PoE version (LPS8NP, 802.3af).

Which LoRaWAN servers does it work with?

Any standard network server via the Semtech packet forwarder — for example The Things Stack, ChirpStack, or other LoRaWAN platforms.

What's the difference between the two variants?

Both are EU868. The standard model uses Ethernet and Wi-Fi; the EC25 model adds a 3G/4G cellular module for connectivity where wired internet isn't available.

Can I customise the frequency or firmware?

Yes. It runs open-source OpenWrt with published source code, so you can adjust regional bands or extend it with your own packages, managed via Web GUI or SSH.
