The Kerlink Wirnet iStation is a carrier-grade outdoor LoRaWAN® gateway engineered for the most demanding IoT deployments. Designed by one of the pioneers of LoRaWAN infrastructure, it combines a ruggedized IP67 casing, superior long-range coverage, and operational excellence — making it the go-to choice for public operators, MVNOs, private businesses, and smart-city projects that need to connect high volumes of devices reliably.

It brings together the best of the Wirnet Station with the optimisations of Kerlink's i-series (iBTS, iFemtoCell), sharing the same software for easier, lower-cost integration. With fully integrated antennas, dual 4G + Ethernet backhaul, and a hardware secure core, the iStation is built to be deployed quickly and operated easily — even by non-telecom teams — through the Kerlink Wanesy™ Management Center.

Core Capabilities

Superior LoRa Radio Built on Semtech Reference Design v1.5, with 8-channel RX (125 kHz, multi-SF) plus 250/500 kHz, FSK, and TX channels — 10 RX + 1 TX total. Rx sensitivity down to −141 dBm (SF12), Tx configurable 5–27 dBm, with built-in high-rejection SAW filters and LBT.
Dual 4G + Ethernet Backhaul A worldwide 4G module with 3G/2G fallback plus 10/100 Ethernet (RJ45) keeps the gateway connected almost anywhere. GPS, 4G, and LoRa antennas are fully integrated — no external antenna install required.
Carrier-Grade & Outdoor-Ready IP67 casing (aluminium back, polycarbonate front, stainless mounting kit) with excellent heat dissipation, rated −40 °C to +60 °C. Install without opening the casing thanks to waterproof RJ45/SIM connectors and the included mounting kit.
Hardware-Grade Security A hardware secure core with SecureBoot (signed firmware), SecureStorage via ProvenCore™, and OpenVPN/IPsec backhaul protection. A watchdog auto-recovers to the last good configuration after a boot issue.

Interfaces: USB-C debug port and a multifunction On/Off/Reset button; spectrum-analyser compliant.

How is the iStation powered?

Over its RJ45 link — either by 802.3af PoE (Mode A & B, via an injector or switch) or ±48 VDC isolated power. A compatible PoE injector is required and sold separately.

Does it need external antennas?

No. GPS, 4G, and LoRa antennas are fully integrated (LoRa peak gain 2.6 dBi), so no external antenna install is required. External 3 dBi or 6 dBi LoRa antennas are available as an option for extra range.

Which backhaul options does it support?

A worldwide 4G cellular module with 3G/2G fallback (mini-SIM) and 10/100 Ethernet (RJ45) — use either or both for resilient connectivity.

Can it run its own network server?

Yes — with the optional Wanesy™ SPN2 (Small Private Network), the gateway can embed a LoRa Network Server on-device for standalone private networks.

Which frequency band is this model?

This is the EU868 model (SKU PDTIOT-ISS04), covering the EU863-870, IN865-867, and RU864-870 LoRaWAN regional parameters.
