Description
Description
The Milesight UG65 is a robust 8-channel semi-industrial LoRaWAN gateway for high-performance indoor and sheltered-outdoor IoT. Built on the Semtech SX1302 LoRa chip and a quad-core 64-bit CPU, it handles 2,000+ end nodes with line-of-sight reach up to 15 km (about 2 km in dense urban areas), all inside an IP65-rated enclosure.
Crucially for smart buildings, the UG65 is a Building Management System (BMS) bridge — its embedded network server feeds LoRaWAN sensor data straight into BACnet/IP and Modbus systems. It ships in two backhaul models: Ethernet/Wi-Fi, and Ethernet/Wi-Fi/4G for sites that need cellular failover.
Building Management System (BMS) Integration
The UG65 is designed to drop LoRaWAN data into existing building infrastructure with no rip-and-replace. It exposes BACnet/IP, BACnet/SC, Modbus TCP, and Modbus RTU over TCP, alongside MQTT(s) and HTTP(s) APIs — so wireless sensors become first-class points in your BMS or PLC.

Note: an optional 60 cm LoRaWAN fibre-glass N-N antenna kit is available separately. The 4G model requires a Mini SIM (2FF), not included.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the UG65 integrate with a BMS?
It exposes BACnet/IP, BACnet/SC, Modbus TCP, and Modbus RTU over TCP (plus MQTT/HTTP APIs). LoRaWAN sensors appear as native BACnet objects via a virtual BACnet server — with no changes to your existing BACnet devices or management system. A free Milesight BACnet driver is provided.
What's the difference between the two models?
The Ethernet/Wi-Fi model backhauls over wired Ethernet (PoE) and Wi-Fi. The Ethernet/Wi-Fi/4G model adds a 4G LTE modem (Mini SIM, 2FF) for cellular failover where wired/Wi-Fi isn't reliable.
How many devices and what range does it support?
Around 2,000 Class A/B/C nodes, with line-of-sight reach up to 15 km and roughly 2 km in dense urban environments.
Does it need an external network server?
No — it has a built-in network server (with Gateway Fleet, Multicast, and FUOTA). It's also compatible with The Things Stack, ChirpStack, Actility, and AWS if you prefer an external LNS.
How is it powered?
By DC 9–24 V, 802.3af PoE, or USB Type-C (5V/1A), drawing a typical 2.9 W (4.2 W max).
Can I run custom logic on it?
Yes — via Node-RED and a Python SDK for custom applications, data processing, and integrations at the edge.
