Description
Description
The Kerlink Wirnet iFemtoCell-evolution is an elite indoor LoRaWAN® gateway with internal 3G/4G cellular plus Ethernet backhaul, engineered for smart cities, smart buildings, and large-scale metering. It delivers superior coverage in the most demanding environments — basements, underground car parks, elevator shafts — making it ideal for connecting energy meters, parking sensors, and equipment actuators.
Built on the proven Wirnet i-Series platform with built-in high-rejection filters and a hardware-secured Trustzone architecture, it pairs reliable RF performance with operational excellence. Zero-touch provisioning, an embedded ChirpStack server, and the Kerlink Wanesy™ Management Center make it quick to deploy and easy to operate at scale.
Core Capabilities
Typical Applications
Choosing Your Variant
| Model | Backhaul | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| PDTIOT-IFE03 (EU868) | Ethernet + 4G | Most indoor sites — wired plus cellular backhaul. |
| PDTIOT-IFE07 (EU868) | Ethernet + Wi-Fi + 4G | Sites that also need Wi-Fi backhaul flexibility. |
Both variants are EU868 (covering EU863-870, IN865-867, RU864-870). All units include the internal 3G/4G module with 2G fallback.
Technical Integration
The iFemtoCell-evolution runs Kerlink's KerOS (GNU/Linux on Yocto 3.1 dunfell, kernel 5.4 LTS) on an ARM Cortex-A9 CPU with 256 MB DDRAM and 8 GB eMMC (6 GB user-available). It's a programmable gateway supporting Python 3.8, C/C++, and Shell, and shares software across the Wirnet i-Series. Connectivity includes Ethernet (RJ45), USIM (mini-SIM), USB Type-A (config), and USB Type-C (debug/config/power), with an SMA/RP-SMA LoRa antenna connector and a bundled 3 dBi swivel antenna. Power is via the included AC/DC supply (90–264 VAC / 12 VDC) or 5 V USB-C, with optional 5 h / 24 h UPS accessories. It's IP30-rated, operates from −20 °C to +55 °C, and measures 160 × 90 × 35 mm. For variant selection, antennas, or LNS setup, contact the shopioT technical team.
What's in the Box
Note: a SIM card is required for cellular backhaul (not included). UPS autonomy kits and a debug probe are available as optional accessories.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is it powered?
By the included AC/DC supply (90–264 VAC / 12 VDC, 5.5×2.5 mm jack) or 5 V DC via USB-C. Optional UPS accessories provide 5 h or 24 h of backup autonomy.
