Description
Description
The Milesight EG71 is an intelligent, high-performance edge IoT gateway engineered for smart building automation, energy management, and HVAC control. Powered by a quad-core 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex-A53 processor with 2 GB DDR4 RAM and 32 GB eMMC storage, it unifies wired and wireless field-device connectivity in one compact unit — supporting LoRaWAN, RS485, KNX, and configurable universal I/O alongside mainstream BMS protocols including BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, and HTTP.
With multi-backhaul redundancy across Ethernet, 4G LTE, and Wi-Fi, the EG71 keeps data flowing between field-level sensors, actuators, and cloud or BMS platforms — making it an ideal integration hub for new-build and retrofit projects across commercial buildings, campuses, hotels, and industrial facilities.

Core Capabilities
Industrial Applications
Technical Integration
The EG71 is configured via Web GUI, CLI (SSH/Telnet), and SNMP, with remote management through the Milesight Development Platform. An NFC interface (13.56 MHz) enables rapid on-site addition of Milesight LoRaWAN end devices, and a built-in 1.3-inch OLED screen with control buttons gives on-device status and diagnostics without a laptop. Power is flexible via 24 V DC/AC terminal block, 802.3af PoE (ETH1), or USB Type-C (5V/3A) — note that when powered over USB, M-Bus and universal inputs may not operate fully. The unit is IP30-rated, operates from −40 °C to +60 °C, and measures 123 × 90 × 36 mm. For solution architecture, multi-site deployment, or BMS integration support, contact the ShopIoT technical team.
What's in the Box

Frequently Asked Questions
Which protocols does the EG71 support?
LoRaWAN, RS485 (Modbus RTU / BACnet MS/TP), and KNX/TP1 for acquisition; BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU over TCP, MQTT(s), and HTTP(s) for forwarding. M-Bus support is under development.
How many LoRaWAN devices can it handle?
Around 2,000 end devices and up to 20,000 data points (based on a 10-minute uplink interval), with Class A/B/C, FUOTA, and Multicast support.
What I/O does it provide?
8 universal inputs (software-switchable digital/analog/resistance), 4 dry-contact digital inputs, 3 relay outputs, and 4 analog outputs (0–10 V or 4–20 mA).
How is it powered?
Via a 24 V DC/AC terminal block, 802.3af PoE (ETH1), or USB Type-C (5V/3A). When powered over USB, M-Bus and universal inputs may not function fully.
Can I run custom logic on it?
Yes. The EG71 supports Python SDK, Node-RED, and Docker for custom building logic, data processing, and protocol conversion at the edge.
Is it suitable for retrofits?
Yes — it bridges legacy Modbus and KNX devices to modern BACnet/IP, MQTT, and HTTP platforms, so you can modernise a building without replacing existing field devices.
