Description
Description
The RAKwireless RF Lightning Arrestor is a coaxial Surge Protective Device (SPD) that protects your transceiver against the over-voltage and surge current induced by lightning. A critical safety component for any outdoor IoT deployment, it sits inline on the antenna feed and diverts dangerous energy safely to ground.
Built around a switching-type design with a 50 Ω, 0–2700 MHz RF path and power handling up to 200 W, it suits LoRa, Wi-Fi, and LTE antenna systems. N-type male to N-type female connectors and an IP67 body make it ready for permanent outdoor mounting.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does this SPD protect against?
The over-voltage and surge current induced by lightning. As a switching-type device, it diverts that energy to ground and protects the transceiver and circuitry connected to your gateway.
Which systems and frequencies does it support?
LoRa, Wi-Fi, and LTE antennas across a 50 Ω, 0–2700 MHz RF path, handling transmission power up to 200 W.
What's the surge rating?
Nominal discharge current (In) of 10 kA and maximum (Imax) of 20 kA at 8/20 µs, with a voltage protection level (Up) of ≤1200 V.
Will it weaken my signal?
Minimally — VSWR ≤1.2 and insertion loss ≤0.2 dB across 0–2000 MHz keep the RF link clear.
How is it installed and grounded?
Inline on the antenna feed (N-male to N-female). Mount it via the N-F port metal wall-through fixation and bond it to a low-impedance earth, or use a grounding connector.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Yes — it's IP67-rated and operates from −40 °C to +70 °C at 5–95% humidity, weighing ≤180 g.
