Which antenna gain should I choose?

A higher-gain antenna concentrates the signal toward the horizon, which helps on flat, open ground. A lower-gain antenna covers a wider vertical angle, which works better on hills, in towns or when devices sit close to the mast. In Europe, choose an antenna rated for the 863 to 870 MHz band with a connector that matches your gateway or cable.

Do I need a lightning arrestor and a cavity filter?

Fit a lightning arrestor on any outdoor antenna cable, to protect the gateway from surges. A cavity filter helps when the gateway shares a mast or rooftop with cellular or other radio equipment, whose signals can reduce the gateway's sensitivity.

Can you prepare a RAKwireless gateway for my network server?

Yes. If you send us your LoRaWAN network server details with the order, we can pre-provision the gateway so it is ready to add to your network.
