Description

The RAKwireless Antenna Feeder Line is a low-loss LMR195 coaxial cable that lets you position your gateway antenna for optimal coverage. Built for the WisGate Edge Prime & Max (RAK7240/7249), it moves the antenna away from the gateway — up a mast, onto a roof, or clear of obstructions — without sacrificing signal integrity.

It uses an N-type female to N-type male connector pair, a 50 Ω impedance, and a wide 0–3 GHz range with VSWR ≤1.5, so it suits LoRaWAN and other sub-3 GHz RF links. Choose from 1.5 m, 3 m, or 5 m lengths to match your installation.

Core Capabilities

Low-Loss LMR195 Coaxial A 50 Ω LMR195 cable rated 0–3 GHz with VSWR ≤1.5 keeps insertion loss low — just −1.27 dB over 3 m and −1.99 dB over 5 m at 1 GHz.
Optimal Antenna Positioning Relocate the antenna away from the gateway — higher up or clear of obstacles — to extend range and improve coverage across your LoRaWAN network.
N-Type Female-to-Male Connectors Standard N-female to N-male ends connect directly to RAK WisGate gateways and any N-type antenna or surge arrestor in the RF chain.
Built for Tough Environments A black-jacketed cable rated −40 °C to +85 °C and 5–95% humidity stands up to indoor and sheltered-outdoor installations.

Typical Applications

Antenna Elevation: Raise the antenna up a mast or pole to clear obstructions and maximise LoRaWAN line-of-sight coverage.
Indoor-to-Outdoor Runs: Keep the gateway sheltered indoors while routing the antenna outside or onto the roof.
RF Chain Assembly: Link an N-type antenna, surge arrestor, and gateway together when building an outdoor RF path.
Flexible Deployments: Pick 1.5 m for short bench/cabinet runs, or 3 m / 5 m to reach mast- and roof-top antennas.

Choosing Your Length

Length Signal Loss @ 1 GHz Best For
1.5 m Lowest (shortest run) Bench, cabinet, or close antenna placement
3 m −1.27 dB Standard mast or pole antenna placement
5 m −1.99 dB Longer runs to roof- or tower-top antennas

Signal loss rises with frequency (e.g. 3 m: −1.83 dB at 2 GHz, −2.31 dB at 3 GHz; 5 m: −2.89 dB at 2 GHz, −3.75 dB at 3 GHz). Choose the shortest length that reaches your antenna.

Technical Integration

Key points for fitting the feeder line into your RF path:

RF path: Sits inline between the gateway and antenna, with an N-type female end and an N-type male end.
Cable & impedance: LMR195, 50 Ω, 0–3 GHz, VSWR ≤1.5 — suited to LoRaWAN and other sub-3 GHz links.
Signal loss: About −1.27 dB (3 m) and −1.99 dB (5 m) at 1 GHz, rising at higher frequencies.
Compatibility: Designed for RAK7240/7249 WisGate Edge Prime & Max; works with any N-type antenna or surge arrestor.
Environment: Black-jacketed cable rated −40 °C to +85 °C and 5–95% humidity.
Setup help: Choose the shortest length that reaches your antenna to minimise loss — contact the shopioT technical team for advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which lengths are available?

Three: 1.5 m, 3 m, and 5 m. Select your length at checkout. Pick the shortest run that reaches your antenna to keep signal loss to a minimum.

What connectors does it use?

An N-type female connector on one end and an N-type male connector on the other.

How much signal does it lose?

About −1.27 dB over 3 m and −1.99 dB over 5 m at 1 GHz, rising slightly at higher frequencies (up to −2.31 dB / −3.75 dB at 3 GHz).

Is it compatible with my gateway?

It's designed for the RAK7240/7249 WisGate Edge Prime & Max, and works with any N-type antenna or surge arrestor in a 0–3 GHz RF path.

What cable type and impedance is it?

A 50 Ω LMR195 coaxial cable rated 0–3 GHz with VSWR ≤1.5.

Can it be used outdoors?

It's rated −40 °C to +85 °C and 5–95% humidity. For fully exposed installs, weatherproof the connections and add a surge arrestor between the antenna and gateway.
