Description

The RAKwireless 8 dBi Fiberglass Antenna (RAKARG16) is a high-efficiency, vertically-polarized dipole antenna built for outdoor LoRaWAN deployments. With 8 dBi of gain tuned for the 858–878 MHz band, it maximises geographic coverage from a single gateway — ideal for high, clear mounting on masts, poles, and rooftops.

A rugged fiberglass radome and a one-piece connector-to-body design give it the durability and weather resistance needed for professional installations. The antenna body uses an N-Type male connector, and this version ships with an RP-SMA converter cable for direct use with RP-SMA gateways and Helium™-style hotspots.

What's the difference from the 5 dBi antenna?

The 8 dBi offers higher gain for greater range and link budget — best for tall, clear mounting positions covering wide areas. The 5 dBi suits shorter masts and more localised coverage.

Which connector does it use?

The antenna body is N-Type male; this version includes an RP-SMA converter cable, so it works directly with RP-SMA gateways and hotspots.

Can the included cable be used outdoors?

No — the bundled RP-SMA-to-N-Type cable is for indoor use only. For outdoor installations, use a proper weatherproof low-loss feeder cable to protect the connection.

Which frequency does it support?

This model is tuned for 858–878 MHz (covering the EU868 band). A 900–930 MHz version exists for US915/AU915 regions.
